Video of the RPO Members Meeting

February 28, 2013

Here is the video of the RPO Annual Members Meeting held on January 23, 2013.

It’s an hour and a half long. There is some variation in volume when people clap. However, the content is all there.

The content is not all there! You cut off the end of my “two cents worth” letter, and also missed the beginning of the questions and answers.
For Jules to “hide” a question and then for Betsy to suggest they have tried to take “the high ground” is absolutely ludicrous. This happens about 1.25 hours into the video. Betsy said that “lots of musicians” were sitting in the audience. I counted perhaps 8. Betsy said “many more” were in Kilbourn. We’ll never know if that was true. There are still many excellent musicians who continue to stand up for Arild and who had the courage to perform on Sunday at the Rochester Chamber Orchestra with him.

    • I thought I replied to your post this morning. I’m so sorry! I don’t know why my comment didn’t take.

The section in the middle that was cut was when the cameraman had to change tapes :-/ I regret losing that, because I know a lot of people feel the same way that you do, including myself.

If you want, we could post the text of your speech on the website. Do you still have it?

I’d be interested to know if the musicians present in Hatch Hall were all members. I know they are allies of the board and management in this conflict. I also know at least a few musicians were in Kilbourne. I can probably dig up more specifics if you like. Let me know!

this video is like reliving a nightmare. That meeting was the absolute worst and I lost so much respect for the RPO and sadly a few of its musicians.

    • What really gets me is that the kind of mindset that Rice displayed is prevalent throughout our town (and arguably our country). Take no responsibility; blame everything that went wrong on someone else or the by-laws; take credit for all the things the guy you just blamed did; shut down protests or opposition, even when it violates the by-laws.

I give you major props for watching the video. I would get frustrated, to put it mildly.

This is a valuable resource. It would be great to have a transcript of the entire meeting. I know Eileen Buholtz’ most recent petition has some portions transcribed. It could be annotated as a guide to the video, and also fill in the gaps of the video. Thanks for posting this!!
